Supervision for Clinicians

I provide engaging, insight-oriented clinical supervision to colleagues.

I specialize in supervising clinicians with transgender and non-binary clients, their families, and partners. Whether you are newly working with trans clients and need “101” information or you’re struggling through particularly challenging clinical issues, I can help with a single session or ongoing consultation.

I am also SIFI certified and available to supervise social work interns.

Remote Availability

Whether you’re in New York or far away, I also offer these services remotely via telephone and Zoom.

Experience

An internationally recognized expert in transgender and gender issues, I have published my writing on the topic in several peer-reviewed journals, including The Journal of the American Psychoanalytic Association (JAPA), Psychoanalytic Dialogues, Studies in Gender and Sexuality, Journal of Gay & Lesbian Mental Health, International Journal of Transgenderism, TSQ: Transgender Studies Quarterly, Psychoanalytic Social Work, and the book Transgender Subjectivities: A Clinician’s Guide. I am also co-author of the chapter “Clinical Social Work Practice with LGBTQ Clients” in the textbook Clinical Social Work Practice with Diverse Populations.

I have provided group and individual supervision for clinicians working with transgender patients at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy’s Psychotherapy Center for Gender and Sexuality (PCGS), where I also helped to found and organize the bi-annual Transgender Health Symposium.

I have presented my work on transgender issues at many psychoanalytic conferences and to clinicians’ groups in New York City, including the William Alanson White Institute, the National Institute for Psychotherapies (NIP), the National Psychological Association for Psychoanalysis (NPAP), the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy (ICP), and the Manhattan Institute for Psychoanalysis, New York University, the South Beach Psychiatric Center, The National Association of Social Workers, as well as Fenway Health in Boston and the Austen Riggs Center in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.

In addition to my private practice, I worked as a clinical social worker for several years in community LGBTQ+ clinics, including the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Community Center and the Callen-Lorde Community Health Center in New York City. I have been providing clinical treatment to transgender clients since 2001.
