Write to Feel Better
Science shows: “By writing about traumatic, stressful or emotional events, participants were significantly more likely to have fewer illnesses and be less affected by trauma. Participants ultimately spent less time in the hospital, enjoyed lower blood pressure and had better liver functionality than their counterparts.”
Just 15 minutes a day can make a difference. The important part, as I recall from reading the original study, is that you really express your emotions while you write. Don’t worry about crafting something for an audience. Write with feeling. It might look messy and that’s okay. It’s the expressive, emotional energy that will bring you the most benefit.
